The corona policy in Belgium, the merchant, the abandoned victim

The corona policy in Belgium, the merchant and his staff, the abandoned victims

In 2020-2021, we all faced the issues of Covid-19 and, more specifically, the government's decision-making measures.

For more than a year, merchants faced arbitrary closures and lost all prospects.

They were pushed aside at the expense of large institutions that were not subjected to any restrictions, quite the contrary. That the pandemic existed is not in doubt, but it was poorly managed, in our opinion.

Had they decided that restaurants could open at 30 % of their capacity and hairdressers could treat 2 to 4 customers per hour, depending on their space, the risk would have been almost non-existent and at least the costs would have been covered.

Let us not forget to mention that the restrictions were not enforced in public transport, where we are dealing with very small spaces crammed with passengers.

The government, which we consider the head of a company, should bear the consequences of its decisions regarding the management of this company, the country, Belgium.

G-Group Intelligence AG will negotiate with the government, for the benefit of these merchants and the staff, that they be compensated for their loss of revenue in the form of, for example, a tax break through our team of lawyers and advisers and, if necessary, through justice. For the merchant whose business has been permanently closed due to failure as a result of this crisis, we will negotiate compensation for the entire loss.
