Africa, Succeeding through challenge

Africa, Succeeding through challenge

With its 55 states, the African continent is divided into five geographical regions: Central Africa, East Africa, North Africa, Southern Africa and West Africa. These regions have immense wealth derived from their biodiversity and abundant natural resources, which are unevenly exploited.  A demographic boom is the result and poverty is on the rise everywhere on the continent.

In view of this state of affairs, G-Group is committed to analysing the situation and, above all, to reacting directly in order to give people the basics needed for their development.

More structurally speaking the continent's more diversified economies have benefited from a more favourable international environment in the wake of the pandemic, which has been an indicator at several socio-economic levels for many African countries.

Given this trend towards economic recovery and the renewed vitality of populations with regard to poverty and the expansion of the resources made available for the exploitation of the continent's wealth, countries are considering free-trade policies, floating currency rates and less restrictive goods flows, as well as industrialization.

In a context of numerous, new and widespread shocks and the threat of global economic stagnation, G-Group and its African partners are more than ever concerned to meet the challenge of implementing country policies that accelerate structural transformation by raising productivity and the creation of more and better jobs.

One of the areas that G-Group is focusing on is access to electricity and digital technologies.

Access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy is critical to the development of Africa's infrastructure ecosystem, along with sustainable transport systems and a robust digital economy.

Rwanda, for example, has over the past decade moved from long-term programme approaches to an integrated approach to electrification that has enabled it to rapidly expand both on- and off-grid electrification, and in both cases to implement targeted interventions to ensure that electricity services are affordable for the poor, regardless of whether households are connected to the grid or not.

G-Group wants regional integration, with the aim of restoring primary access to their natural resources to the African countries themselves, establishing economic policies that benefit the populace, and limit the plundering of natural resources by international corporations.
